The most powerful single influence
in all history has been the belief in Yahwah. This influence has shown itself not only
in the beliefs and spiritual ideals of the human race, but also in political
events and institutions as well.
The United States was built upon the
foundation of Yahwah's principles. Our national Anthem reflects our reliance on Yahwah. Our money declares our faith in Yahwah, and our
Pledge of Allegiance heralds out testimony to Yahwah's importance in this nation.
In the past the Supreme Court of the United States have bore witness that this
nation was made up of a people who believed in the principles of Yahwah.
In 1892 the United States Supreme Court
made an exhaustive study of the supposed connection between Christianity and
the government of the United States. After all was said and done the result of
the study showed that this nation was truly a Christian Nation, and its make-up
consisted of a people who believed in Yahwah. In 1931 the Supreme Court Justice George
Sutherland reviewed the 1892 decision in reference to another case and
reiterated that Americans are a Christian people. And then again in 1952
Justice William O. Douglas affirmed that “we are a religious people and our
institutions presuppose a Supreme Being”.
The foundation of a nation and its
stability depends upon the education of its people. And this education must
start with the youth. In the early years of this nations growth the foundation
of this country was being built upon the foundation of truth. The Word of
Yahwah and its principles were one of the main subjects that were taught in the
schools. In fact in the early years of this nation beginnings the first schools
were in the churches, and for more than three centuries following their
inception in the mid-1600s, public schools promoted prayer and regularly used
the Bible as a textbook. The principles that were taught from the Bible were
the bases for the educational teaching of morals and the stories drawn from
those principles often provided the content for the student reader. This type
of education in our public schools was a
training center that provided this nation with children that were well- rounded
and well-equipped, educated both in mind and in character. It was Noah Webster,
a Founding Father and leading educator of his day that said; “No truth is more
evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any
government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people”.
Benjamin Rush, who was a signer of the
Declaration of Independence and the first founder to call for free public
schools also believed that the principles of Christianity should be taught to
our children. He said; “The only foundation for a useful education in a
republic is to be laid in religion. Without this there can be no virtue, and
without virtue there can be no liberty, and liberty is the object and life of
all republican governments….Without religion, I believe learning does much
mischief to the morals and principles of mankind”.
George Washington, our nations first
President said in his first speech after his election; “It would be peculiarly improper to omit, in this first
official act, my fervent supplication to that Almighty Being who rules over the
universe, who presides in the council of nations, and whose providential aids
can supply every human defect….No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore
the invisible hand which conducts the affairs of men more than the people of
the United States”. Washington also recognized what would happen to a nation
that disregards Almighty God by saying; “The propitious [favorable] smiles of
Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of
orders and right which Heaven itself has ordained”.
In his farewell address after leading this
country for eight years Washington still recognized the importance of a nations
relationship with God; “Of all the disposition and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are
indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism
who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness….The mere
politicians, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them”.
Washington was able to see that if Christian principles were excluded, the
nations morality and political prosperity would suffer.
These men of vision warned us if we were to prosper as a
nation that we must not forget the Christian principles that the foundation of
this nation was built upon. Now over 200 years have passed and their warnings
have gone unheeded, and the truth of their warnings has become a reality. This
nation is truly suffering in the very areas these men of vision said they would
if we turned our backs on God and His principles.
The new direction for America and its way of educating its
youth would change dramatically from the foundation of which it was built.
Between the years from 1962 and 1963 there were three cases that came before
the Supreme Court that would change the education of the American youth and the
results would be devastating. The cases were Engle v. Vitale, Murry v. Curlett
and Abington v. Schempp, the decision of the Supreme Court ruling would forbade
the inclusion of religious activities in
major activities of daily student life by striking down school prayer and Bible
reading. Never before in the history of our nation had any branch of our
government taken such a stand. This would be the beginning of
woes for a nation that once was a nation built upon principles of moral
integrity to a nation that has become morally degenerate.
By the Supreme Courts decision of those
three cases it would restructure the foundation of what this nation was built
upon which is the freedom of choice of the majority of the people. The Supreme
Court took the beliefs and the opinions of a few and took away the freedom of
choice of the majority. The decisions that were made by the Supreme Court would
not effect just a few people it would effect thirty-nine million students and
over two-million teachers would be barred from participating
in what had been available to students since our nation’s founding.
This sudden and dramatic restructuring of educational
policies was precipitated by the Court’s reinterpretation of the phase “SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE”.
The First Amendment
does not contain that phrase; it simply states, “Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof”. You do not have to be a brain surgeon to understand what are Founding
Fathers was saying that Congress was prohibited from establishing a national
religious denomination---that Congress could not pass a law requiring American to become Catholic,
Mormons, or members of any other denomination.
This meaning for the “separation of church
and state” had been explained clearly during the time of the Founders and was
applied by the courts for a 170 years afterwards. But, in 1962, the Supreme Court decided that
“church” would no longer mean a “federal denomination”; instead, it would now
mean a ‘religious activity in public”. Consequently, “separation of church and
state’ was no longer a prohibition against establishing a national
denomination; it was now a prohibition against including religious activities
in public affairs. This new interpretation of “church’ would set the stage for
the removal of student prayer, the removal of Bible reading, the removal of the
Ten Commandments and the removal of benedictions and invocations from school
activities.
Lower court rulings have gone even further
than those of the Supreme
Court chipping at the principles of the foundation in which this nation was
built upon until the rock that once was laid has become a foundation of sand. In some school
districts freedom of speech and press is guaranteed to students unless the topic is
religious, at which time such speech becomes unconstitutional. If a student
prays over his lunch, it is unconstitutional for him to pray aloud. It is
unconstitutional for a board of education to use or refer to the word “God” in
any of its official writings.
These decisions and rulings the Supreme
Courts and the lower courts have made will not go forth without great
consequences; what occurs in the classroom eventually affects the rest of the
nation. President Abraham Lincoln once said; “The philosophy of the class room
in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next”.
I pray that are leaders come to the
understanding that Christianity has reference to the principles of right and
wrong. It is the foundation of those morals and manners upon which our society
was formed. Christianity and morality our one. Morality is the fruit of which
Christianity produces, they go hand in hand. If you remove the principles of
what Christianity teaches you remove the very rock of what this nation was
built upon over 200 years ago.
Friends I do not claim
to be an expert on warfare or the strategies that go along with it. But I
believe if I was the enemy and wanted to take over a nation the best way to do
it would be to destroy the foundation of that nation, for without a sure
foundation that nation is sure to fall. The passages of the Gospel of Luke
26:47-49 bares witness to this truth; Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my
sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like. He is like a man (PEOPLE) which built a house (NATION OR GOVERNMENT), and digged
deep, and laid a foundation
(BELIEF IN YAHWAH) upon a rock (YAHWAH HA'MASHIACH); and when the flood arose, the
stream beat vehemently upon that house( NATION
OR GOVERNMENT), and could not shake it; for it was founded upon a rock (YAHWAH HA'MASHIACH). But here that heareth, and
doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation (THE BELIEF IN YAHWAH) built an house NATION
OR GOVERNMENT) upon the earth; against which the stream did beat
vehemently, and immediately fell; and the ruin of that house (NATION OR GOVERNMENT) was great”.
As you can see by this scripture above that
our founding fathers knew this truth and framed the house of our government on
the foundation of the belief in Yahwah and the principles which our provided through
Yahwah’s Word the Bible. But in these last forty years the leaders of this nation
have not taken heed to the words of the the Messiah and as a nation we are reaping of
what we have sown. In the Gospels of Ephesians it says “we wrestle not against
flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of
darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”, (Eph.
6:12) and this is the war we are in today. It’s not a war of the physical. The
war we wrestle against is being fought on the battle fields of the heart. The
only way this nation is going to survive this war is to repent and seek the old
paths which were laid by our founding fathers.
Jeremiah warned Israel to return to the
old paths of which their nation was built upon. "Thus saith the Lord, stand ye
in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and
walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not
hearken. Also I set watchman over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the
trumpet. But they said we will not hearken. Therefore hear, ye nations, and
know, O congregation, what is among them. Here O earth: behold, I will bring
evil upon my people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not
hearkened unto my words, nor my law, but rejected it”.(Jere.6:16-19).
This warning also pertains to the United
States today, for we are going down the same path as Israel was going down when
Jeremiah gave this warning. We as a nation are doing the same thing Israel did. They
forgot to remember who made them a nation and we are following down the same
paths that they took. Our Nation may be
the number one power in the physical world and our mission may be to bring peace
and be the peace keepers of the world, but we must not forget the one who has
bestowed this power upon us. In the last days before the Messiah’s return there
will be a call among the nations crying out for “peace, peace, but how many
times they cry the cry will not be heard for their will be no peace. We have forsaken the one that brings inner
peace and change to the heart. The foundation and the walls that are being
constructed by the leaders of this new generation are being constructed with
untempered morter. The tempered morter (Prayer, the Word of Yahwah, and His
commandments) has been left out of the construction materials that’s needed to
build a sure foundation and walls to protect us from the enemy of
principalities and powers which come upon us.
The vision that the government has for
this nation is a vision of blindness. The road they are taken us down is a road
to destruction. It is the same road Ezekiel warned Israel about; “Have ye seen
not vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, the
Lord saith it; albeit I have spoken. Therefore thus saith the Lord: Because ye
have spoken vanity and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith
the Lord. And my hand shall be upon the prophets (LEADERS) that see vanity, and that divine lies; they shall not be
in the assembly of my people, Because, even because they have seduced my
people, saying, Peace; and there is no peace; and one built up a wall, and lo,
others daubed it with untempered mortar; Say unto them who daubed it with
untempered mortar, THAT IT SHALL FALL. Lo,
when the wall is fallen, shall it not be said unto you, Where is the daubing
with which ye have daubed it? So, will I break down the wall that ye have
daubed with untempered mortar, and bring it down to the ground, SO ITS FOUNDATION SHALL BE UNCOVERED,
and it shall fall, and be consumed in the midst of it; and ye shall know that I
am Yahwah”. (Ezek. 13:7-12,14).
The foundation and the walls that are
founding fathers were building were of
tempered mortar(religious principals). These Christian principals had always
been included in education because they understood the simple truth that crime
could only be prevented by restraining the heart, and only Christian principles were capable of
accomplishing this feat. They understood that these principles must start with
the children. Noah Webster once said; “In my view, the Christian religion is
the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a
free government, ought to be instructed…..No truth is more evident to my mind
than that the Christian religion must be the bases of any government intended
to secure the right and privileges of a free people”.
In 1962 I was 12 years old and I remember
some of the Christian principles
that were taught to me from the Bible in school and I believe I am better
person for that education. As I look back I can see what a dramatic change has
taken place in student morality since the Supreme Court has made the decision
to take Yahwah out of school. Once the Christian principles that were taught in
our schools that provided the bases for societal rights and wrongs were
disallowed the students were encouraged
to “discoverer” and to set their own standards.
So significant were the changes in student
behavior following the Court decisions, that in 1965 the U.S. Department of
Justice began to track youth violence as a separate category which had
previously never been done before in the
history of our nation.
The consequences are
now evident, you can see the fruit of what the tree of education has produced in this nation. Before
the ban on the teaching of Christian principles, the top public school problems were: Talking, Chewing gum, Making noise,
Running in the halls, Getting out of turn in line, Wearing improper clothing,
and not putting paper in the wastebaskets. It is a far cry from what is taking
place today among our school children such as : Rape, Robbery, Assault,
Burglary, Arson, Bombings, Murder, Suicide, Absenteeism, Vandalism, Extortion,,
Drug use, Alcohol abuse, Gang warfare, Pregnancies, Abortion, Venereal decease.
For over a hundred and sixty years the
problems of this nations children were nothing compared to the problems of the
children we have today. Just within forty years our nation has become
confounded on what to do with this problem of our children, when the answer is simple,
“PUT YAHWAH BACK IN AMERICA AGAIN”.
Invite Him back to take part in government policies, invite Him back to take
part in the education of our children, and in this way you will invite Him back
into the hearts of the American people. John Quincy Adams once said; “Human
legislation can undertake only to prescribe the actions of men; they
acknowledge their inability to govern and direct the sentiments of the
heart…..It is one of the greatest marks of Divine favor…..that [Yahwah]
gave…..rules not only of action, but for the government of the heart”.
Robert Winthrop, who was a speaker of the
U. S. House of Representatives and a contemporary both of John Quincy Adams and
of Daniel Webster once stated that; “Men, in a word, must necessarily be
controlled, either by a power within them, or a power without them; either by
the word of God, or by the strong arm of man; either by the Bible, or by the
bayonet”.
This nation has chosen the bayonet. Since
the courts have ruled we no longer need the use of “the Bible” in so many important public arenas, we have indeed
resorted to “the bayonet”, that is,
to physical coercive force. By disregarding Yahwah’s Word and His Ten Commandments (Yahah’s Eternal Law)
our legislation in their place introduce 170,000
laws per year, most of which
attempt to restrain or prosecute criminal behavior. Since we no longer teach
internal restraints, we must pursue external restraints, and I ask you is this
freedom or is this being in bondage, you be the judge.
Civil Laws are weak in dealing with the
heart fore they are unable to address the heart. Only Yahwah's principles can
stop crime before it occurs; only Yahwah's principles can deal with murder
while it is still only a thought in the heart; civil and criminal laws can do
nothing until after the fact.
The United States has been considered a
world leader and I believe this is true. Statistic shows that the United States
is a world leader in; Violent crime, Divorce rate, Teenage pregnancy rate (the
western world’s leader), Voluntary abortions, Illegal drug use, Illiteracy rate
(the highest of any industrial nation), Documented cases of AIDS. This is the
fruit that if this nation continue to partake of will lead to death.
A nations accountability to Yahwah is unlike
an individuals accountability to Yahwah. An individual’s final reckoning with
Yahwah will occur after departure from this life; perhaps immediately after
death or 10,000 years later, but it will occur; a final future reckoning is
inevitable. However, a nation, unlike an individual, does not account to Yahwah
in the future. A nation cannot be rewarded or punished in the next world, so
they must be in this. By an inevitable chain of causes and effects, Providence
punishes national sins by national calamities. Thomas Jefferson once declared;
“Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that Yahwah is just and that
His justice cannot sleep forever”.
Do people really believe that it is just a
coincidence of what has happened to the morality of our children and adults
alike since the deterioration of Yahwah's principles in our nation. In
Yahwah’s Word, in the Book of 1 Samuel 2:30 God says; “Whoever honors me, I
will honor. And whoever disregards me, I will disregard”.
The Word also says: “Who is a liar but he
that denieth that Yahwah is the Messiah? HE
IS THE ANTICHRIST, THAT DENIETH THE FATHER AND THE SON. Whosoever denieth
the Son, the same hath not the Father; he that confesseth the Son hath the
Father also. Let that therefore, abide in you which ye have heard from the
beginning. If that which you have heard from the beginning shall remain in you,
ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father”. (1John 2:22-24).
From the beginning of our nations
conception we were abiding in Yahwsh’s Word (Yahwah Ha'Mashiach) “And the Word was made
flesh, and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory as of the only begotten of
the Father, full of grace and truth”. (John 1:14). When we were honoring Yahwah
in our public affairs, we were elevated among the nations of the world in
achievement, morality, productivity, stability, and reputation. Yahwah's promise
of Psalms 91:14-16 spoke truth to this nation: “I will protect him, for he
acknowledges My name. He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be
with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him; with long life will I
satisfy him, and show him My salvation”.
Now that this nation has disregarded Him,
we are no longer the superior nation we once were. Our performances have elapsed
into mediocrity. Yahwah’s promise is also speaking truth to this nation today
who has rejected Him in the manner done by the Supreme Court in 1962-63. Since
they have rejected the word of Yahwah (Yahwah HA'Mashiach), what kind of wisdom do they
have? Yahwah says: “Therefore will I give their wives unto other, (ADULTERY) and their fields to them that
shall inherit them (NATIONAL DEFICIT):
for every one from the east even unto the greatest is given to covetousness (MATERIAL POSSESSIONS), from the prophet
even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely (BARING FALSE WITNESS). For they have healed the hurt of the
daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace(ILLITERACY). Were they ashamed when
they have committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither
could they blush (MORALITY BEHAVIOR):
therefore they shall fall among them that fall (Our international positions in education, industry, morality, and
family stability have fallen to the worst levels of any industrial nation):
in the time of their visitation they shall fall be cast down, saith the Lord. I
will surely consume them, saith the Lord: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on
the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade(Our
productivity has dropped almost 80 percent from its pre-1962 levels); and
the things that I have given them shall pass away from them”. (Jere. 8:10-13).
Friends, I believe it is more than just a
coincidence that major reversals have
occurred in numerous national areas since Yahwah and His principles were barred
from public affairs. We were born and guided through our adolescence and then
brought through turmoil and on to stability by men who embraced prayer and Yahwah's principles. Can we possibly believe that what was gained by those
principles can be maintained without them?
You may be asking yourself by now is there
any hope left for this nation? I believe there is. I believe if we repent and
invite Yahwah's Word back into the classrooms of this nation and acknowledge
Him as Lord over this nation that He will turn His face toward this nation
again. Through prayer and the acknowledgment of Yahwah throughout public
affairs is not simply a religious issue; it is a national issue. Obtaining
Yahwah’s aid and favor by simply acknowledging Him in public is an asset not to
be underestimated, and we can ill afford to continue without His aid and favor.
Hosea 6:3 needs again to become the description of our national policy: “Then
shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord”.
The road back to what this nation stood
for will not be easy. It took a half-a-century to arrive at the
situation we are in today; that situation will not be reversed over night. It
will take patience, perseverance and faith as prescribed in Matt. 25:21; “His
Lord said unto him, Well done good and faithful servant; thou has been faithful
over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things. Enter thou into the
Joy of the Lord”. We as a free people must come together and commit ourselves
to restoring the Yahwah's principles back to the children of this nation, we
must commit ourselves to the long haul. We must arm ourselves with the
mentality of a marathon runner, not a sprinter. The bottom line is, we must be
willing to stay and compete until we win.
We must regain the conviction that
Biblical principles are vital to the national success, and we must be willing
to pursue their reinstatement. In recent decades, we as a Christian people have
wrongly allowed the very principles which produce morality and virtue, and thus
national stability, to be restricted in public life. We need once again to
recognize the truth and must come to understand and be convinced that the only
way a person can be transformed is by the transformation of the heart. The only
way that this can be done is through Yahwah the Messiah our redeemer (YAHWEH'S WORD).
